Owner, Pamela Schuler has been involved with horses all of her life. Starting at the young age of 3yrs when she was attending the Bowen Horse and Pony Club. She progressed through pony club with Championship wins and placings in Dressage, Showjumping and Eventing.
In 2003 Pamela headed overseas to fulfill her passion of becoming a professional Dressage Rider. Bases in the UK for 2 years with Olympic Rider, Vicki Thompson Pamela gained valuable knowledge of not only the industry but of professional riding and training.
On returning from the UK in 2005 she accepted a job offer from Ulrich Klatte at Belcam Warmblood Stud in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
Pamela started out as a general staff member and rider/trainer of young horses for sales. She was also required to attend to the office side of the business as well.
In 2006, Pamela was appointed supervisor at Belcam. She was responsible for ensuring that all the daily stable jobs were completed, that horses and business was attended to and ran smoothly.
Towards the end of 2006 she started learning the ropes of the breeding program. She completed her first Artificial Insemination and the mare, Belcam C'estalive had a lovely colt the following year. Since that moment of performing her first AI on a mare, she was given the breeding program of over 30 mares; ensure their well being and that of their foals. Natural service, Hand Servicing and AI were all methods that were practiced with the stud stallions.
Some of wonderful achievements were had during her time with Ulrich Klatte and Sue Thomas of Belcam.
She acquired a 1/2 share with Sue in Riverside Pablo in April 2006. Within 6 months, Pablo and Pamela were South East QLD Preliminary and Novice Champions. They then when on later that year to the QLD State Championships where they placed 3rd in the Preliminary and 6th in the Novice. A very rewarding year for a promising partnership.
2007 saw many highlights begin. They had stepped up their training and were now competing at Elementary and Medium. Pamela and Pablo were awarded Reserve Elementary Champions at the Greater South Eastern Dressage Championships and earlier on they had had a win at their first Medium test.
At the end of the season the Equestrian QLD Dressage Committee awarded her and Pablo the Pat Dale Memorial Trophy. "This was such an honour considering our competition year had been cut short" Pamela commented. Due to the Equine Influenza outbreak many of her goals had not been able to be achieved for the 2007 season.
A new era began with the beginning of the business PVS Training & Equine Services opening in North QLD's, Bowen in mid 2008.
Pamela started attending competitions in the region and soon was achieving some notable success with her new team of horses. The business started out small and has grown in size, strength and reputation.
Allan and Janette Williams of Riverside Pastoral Co. gave Pamela the ride on, Riverside Paddy Williams (the full brother to Riverside Pablo) this gave her her first mount to start competing with officially. He was a 6yr old only recently broken in. With some hard work and dedication, Pamela and Paddy went out and by the end of the season took out the 'Green Horse' Championships at the Annual Townsville Dressage Club Championships. From there they have grown to form a solid partnership and have won many championships from Novice - FEI level.
In 2009 Pamela needed another horse to work with; She saw an opportunity in her sister Natalie Lydom's mare Lassie Creek. Well it took them a good 8 months to form a solid partnership and iron out some Thoroughbred issues but it is quite safe to say they work well together and have not looked back since coming together.
This was also the year for a lot of changes and hard work establishing the business identity. There were many clinics conducted and lessons given and slowly people were starting to remember the "PVS" name. They now had two young horses on the ground, Hugo PVS and Karlos PVS.
2010 was going to be the year to pull everything together and aim for the State Dressage Championships again but this time with two horses, Lassie Creek and Riverside Paddy Williams. They traveled many km's in search for the qualifying scores and along the way were awarded Championships in Gladstone, Cairns & Townsville. The business was going along well with clients coming for weekly lessons, monthly clinics being conducted and clients bring horses in for education.
However it was not going to be the year for the State Championships. Rain came and continued to come and the State Championships were cancelled.
They were awarded by Dressage QLD a bronze rider medal for their consistent effort during the year.
2011 started a bit shaky and the team didn't actually get going until around June. But once they were going there was little standing in their way this year. Some good results at some Regional Championships and at the State Championships saw Pamela and Lassie being announced as members of the Greystone Dressage QLD State High Performance Squad for 2012. This is a goal that she has been working towards since starting the business in Nth QLD.
The business again has developed further and this year they saw a record number of horses come through for training.
